A busy weekend showing nine different ponies at two shows miles apart. With the first four ponies washed we made the two-hour journey to Chard showground to supported Somerset -Equi event show. The weather was good sadly like so many shows the entries were low but of good quality, so nothing was made easy. Our day started with wins for Sienna, Tequila Sunrise, and Uno. Uno was chosen as Mrs Lonsdale’s Miniature Shetland Champion and Reserve Supreme. Later, our strawberry roan and white mare Quaffle was Coloured Shetland Champion, as if that wasn’t enough, Daniel then went on to strut his stuff with Sienna to win Mountain & Moorland Championship. So, with the day coming to its finally we had all three ponies representing the breed in a Supreme of show. The Supreme cup was handed over to a beautiful ridden horse, Daniel and Sienna were Reserve, so proud of them all. The following day was made more possible by a late two o’clock start for the shetland classes, so another five washed and on our way in the opposite direction to Rugby Riding Club. On this occasion it was Merrylees Nuggett and myself who came out on top, taken the Miniature and Supreme Championship under Mrs Lewis. Cliff and Ulysses were Junior Champions, Daniel and Ultimate, who’s learning fast were Reserve. Long weekend but so worth seeing the ponies improve.
All work and no play for us this weekend.
