Foaling started here at Snelsmore rather unexpectedly on the 7th of April. It was a sunny morning and luckily I noticed Snelsmore Nymph, a maiden mare, giving birth in the field with her friends. Once her little piebald daughter, Scarlet, was strong enough we moved them to a more suitable field where Nymph could quietly settle down to being a new mum. She took to motherhood like a duck to water but it wasn’t long before another foal joined them. I had a few sleepless nights waiting for our second foal but as usual in her own time, Snelsmore Jacqueline had a straightforward birth in the middle of the day. Her piebald colt Sebastian was strong and it didn’t take long for her to him a quick clean up and continue doing what she likes best, eating.
Mardlebrook Galaxy and Eiger Julianna came next with their two colt foals. These two boys Starburst and Shamrock are best of friends and seemed to always be racing each other around the paddock.
