As well as the Shetland ponies we have a homebred show jumper called Catch the Beever, better know around the stables as Buster.
On the fourth of July 2007 we had been showing at Royal show, Stoneleigh, having already had a great day winning the Championship, we weren’t to know our day was too get even better. Miss Jones are lovely grey mare was heavily in foal to Lauriston and due to foal at any time. She was very obliging and waiting for us to return home before she gave birth to a healthy bay colt in the early evening sunshine. Just perfect timing. Buster had arrived, a cocky bay colt the apple of his mum’s eye and she had every reason to be proud he was the most beautiful foal. He was eventually named Catch the Beever, after a vet called Lilly Beever who tragically died in a freak train crash while on holiday abroad. Although we hadn’t known Lilly that long she soon became a good friend. Catch the Beever was her email address and we thought it would be a nice way to remember her. Although some may think his name a little rude, Lilly I’m sure would have found it quite amusing hearing the chuckles around the ringside.
