I’m sad to say I think this time Collin the cockerel’s luck might have run out. Colin has been a character around the stud for many years. He’s been missing for a while and we fear the worse. We were never sure of his age or breed. He was originally rescued from a housing estate, most probably thrown by his previous owner for fighting. The outcome of being abandon on a busy road, left two dead chickens, his fighting partner had a broken leg who couldn’t be saved, a blood covered cockerel and a little white hen in a small heap. Who would have guessed this scruffy looking blood covered cockerel would become a big part of our lives? His relation with his new wife didn’t last long Mr fox paid us a visit leaving Colin wife less but just alive again, minus a few feathers. His life as a lone Cockerel at Snelsmore started from that day on. He slept high in the barn on top of the straw bales helped to bed by Cliff each night, he always arriving for crumbs at tea times, loved eating the dog’s biscuits and being thrown the odd pony nuts. Colin knew the sound of the ponies playball searching for that odd nut Nevada might have missed He survived many stories at the yard being squashed several times when stacking bales, shut in stables and workshops but always came out of his experience slightly ruffled but ok, until now. Like to think he die of old age peacefully somewhere but we will never know. RIP Collin the Cockerel
