The British National Foal of the Year Show held at Solihull on 30th November was sadly our final outing for 2014.
It’s always-difficult washing ponies so late in the season, but it has to be done. The standard of turn out of ponies these days is so good; you need to be on top of your game to stand a chance of winning any class.
The Foal Show was no different, strong classes and well-prepared foals. It was going to be an interesting result with everyone keen to gain rosettes for stars in the making for next years show season.
Our first foal into the ring was Snelsmore Ricicle. On this occasion we decided to enter her into a new class for the British National Foal show, open to Palomino/Cremello & Dun foals of all breeds, with two height sections to mature under fourteen two hands and over. Naturally we were delighted when the judge Mr John Askins chose Ricicle as his ring Champion. What a great start to our day.
Later in the Miniature Shetland foal classes Mrs Doreen Tindale placed our blue and white filly Snelsmore Ruby Tuesday fourth in the filly foal class and our recently acquired colt Mardlebrook Tinker fifth in the colt foal class.
Snelsmore Rembrandt went along as Tinker’s companion and although not quite ready to compete in the show ring, he learnt a lot by the whole experience. He’s certainly one to watch in the future.
