Skeletal Atavism testing results; Clear Results, Bright Futures

We are delighted to share the latest results from our ongoing Skeletal Atavism (SA) testing programme here at Snelsmore Stud.

As part of our commitment to breeding healthy, quality ponies, we continue to test members of our herd. By testing mares with foals by SA-clear stallions, we can confirm the status of both mare and foal through parentage two results for the price of one, so to speak!

We are thrilled to announce that our lovely older mare Snelsmore Lucie Locket has tested clear of Skeletal Atavism (SA) This also confirms that her beautiful piebald daughter Snelsmore Coco Chanel is SA clear by parentage.

Even more exciting, Snelsmore Coco Chanel has also tested homozygous for the Tobiano gene (TT), meaning she carries two copies of the Tobiano gene and will always pass this desirable colouring on to her offspring.

Our second mare tested was Snelsmore Wren, who has also returned a clear SA result. This means her daughter, Snelsmore Chiff Chaff, by Snelsmore Ulysses, is likewise clear of SA by parentage.

These are very pleasing results for our stud and another positive step forward in our breeding programme. There is still more work to do, but we are certainly heading in the right direction, and we look forward to sharing further updates as more results come in.
