The fourteen-hour journey to Scotland seemed like a good idea at the time, but I must admit it was much further than I thought.
With the attitude “If your not in it you cant win it” We left home at 6.30 in the evening and headed towards Scotland with trailer in tow. Funny how it seems like an uphill run, driving though traffic jams, heavy rain, and then seeing the Scottish highlands at the crack of dawn was amazing. We arrived at the Breed show venue at eight o’clock the next morning with the whole day to relax. Cliff had a well deserved nap while I fused over with the ponies and chatted too other competitors who were arriving all the time. Their definitely seemed a buzz of excitement in the scottish wind. Once Cliff was awake and all our ponies were walked and settled them into stables, we dressed up for the evenings dinner and dance. The following morning we rose early to prepare for the days event. Snelsmore Querl was first up for us in a strong mare class split into two sections junior and senior. So thrilled to start with a win, didn’t think it could get any better, but Snelsmore Nevada followed to make it a second win and then Snelsmore Spectre made it a third wow!!! The younger fillies Ragdoll and Sienna were second and third in their classes. Their was no chance to a rest with the championships left to be sorted we rushed back to the ring. What a day it turned out to be, Nevada was chosen as Mrs Wendy Mouser’s Miniature Champion and went on to be Reserve Supreme, for a moment in all the excitement I almost forgot how far from home we were. As the show came to an end we had a cup of tea and packed up to travel home loaded with plenty of prizes and cups. The journey seemed so much quicker on the way home or was it the excitement that kept us going I wonder!! or for me the taste of Scottish gin we had won.
SPSBS Breed show: Wow!! What a Journey we had.
