As usual an early start for our two-hour journey to the Downs group show held in the beautiful surrounding of Buckurst Park, Sussex. Only this time the Spring show had a very different meaning a special day in memory of Judy Hawkins a group member, such a lovely lady who enjoyed showing her ponies. Big thanks to Jill, Roger and her family for making it all possible.
Our ponies had a great day so pleased with our four wins and Junior Championship. Snelsmore Oceana started the rather cold day off with a win in the intermediate class followed by Snelsmore Ragdoll who came off the lorry in high spirits but after a few very interesting moments she soon settled down to win the Novice class. Snelsmore Spectre was only having his second outing and still very inexperienced, so we were especially pleased to win a strong yearling class with him. Feeling slightly warmer as the sun was trying to make an appearance between the rain clouds it was the turn of Snelsmore Ribbon to performed in the two-year-old class but on this occasion could only manage a fourth place. Over the past few weeks Quiz Master seems to has grown in confidence suddenly turning into a stallion, letting his presents be known to everyone giving our judge Linzi Cave a tough decision to make with another well supported class. Quiz Master must have caught our judge’s attention with his man liked antics as he won his class. With only the Championships left to be sorted we were delighted to win the Junior Championship with our piebald yearling colt Spectre apart from not being sure about wearing his winning sash he was a really good boy even mastered the art of loading. With the day over apart from the chit chat with friends one can only reflected back on Judy, I think she would have been chuffed with the turn out. One day I hope to have our name on that memorial cup.
