The Downs Group show

The Downs group show on Sunday 10th August continued regardless of the bad weather warnings.
We Woke up to find the weather wasn’t as bad as forecasted, so off we set for The Downs group show at Cherry Tree farm, Surrey with five ponies abroad. As we trundled down the M25 the weather gradually deteriorated and we started to worry that it might actually be cancelled. We worryingly arrived at Cherry tree farm to find the large green gates still closed but it wasn’t long before we were greeted by Anne in her dressing grown waving two tea bags at us “come in and make a cuppa before we start ”she said I’m off to get changed.
Gradually other mad Shetland owners started to arrive proving showing is not for the faint hearted
The day started regardless of the rain, our judge Mrs Griffiths In her long weather proof coat and matching hat choose Snelsmore Madonna to win the Intermediate class and second in a strong Yield mare class. Snelsmore Pavarotti our two yr. old colt was making his first appearance to the show ring in the Novice class and took second place, a little more practice needed but he showed promise. Our yearling fillies Snelsmore Q-Me and Snelsmore Querl were first and second in the yearling filly class and Q-Me went on to Reserve Junior Champion. Finally out came the sun in time for Snelsmore Jasper to win the stallion class and become Miniature Champion. The day turned out to a success and we needed have worried about the weather. We all got a soaking but didn’t see anybody complaining the sun did come occasionally and we all enjoyed ourselves.
