The Shetland Society Breed show: Let the celebrations begin.
This year’s Shetland Society Breed was a day after my birthday, so it seemed a good idea to put my birthday celebrations on hold, I needed to keep a clear head with no nasty hang over for the early start the next morning . With the two lorry’s loaded we left in convoy down the M25 for the South of England show ground Sussex, we had a good journey giving us time to relax. The first competition of the day for us was Yeld mare class with both Snelsmore Mystique and Snelsmore Nutmeg entered our fingers were crossed for a good start to the day and we couldn’t of asked for a better outcome receiving first and second places for our girls. Next up it was the turn of Snelsmore Nevada in the stallion class and Snelsmore Pavarotti in the Two & Three year colt class they showed themselves beautifully but on this occasion they both could only manage third places. Luck seemed to be with the girls as Snelsmore Jacqueline won the brood mare class with her colt foal Snelsmore Sebastian gaining a second place. Next It was the turn of Snelsmore Rembrandt, we had high hopes for this striking yearling colt by Kington Za Za Rac and he didn’t disappoint us he performed well to win the Yearling colt class changing the luck for the boy’s but it didn’t last long as Snelsmore Quaffle followed by a win in the Two year old filly class with Snelsmore Querl receiving a fourth in the same class. With only the Championships left our Judge Mrs Randell choose the miniature stallion as her Champion and Mystique as her Reserve Champion and best opposite sex. Rembrandt also won the Champion Miniature Yearling cup, what an amazing day and time for a celebration drink.
