Well done to Becky, James of Halfway stud for another beautiful foal by Snelsmore Lacarno. Lacarno is half-brother to Snelsmore Calipso both out of the Croft Bluebell. In 1995 we answered an advert in the local paper and brought Croft Bluebell a bay and white yearling filly by Taffgarn Raffia out of North-Wells Buddleia. Bluebell…

Showing News: Quail is game

Cliff and Snelsmore Quail obviously enjoying their days work at the Downs group show. Quail left the nest as a foal and flew home some years later, as a plucky little feathered bird with her camouflaged plumage and short tail. She took to showing like a duck to water, I’m sure there’s more to come…

Stud News: SPSBS Sire award for Zazarac

A second place in the SPSBS sire award for Kington Zazarac. I clearly remember twenty-two years ago one wet winters evening we answered an advert in the Horse & hound. It was love at first sight a naughty character stood at the back of a stable stamping his tiny hoof in a temper, with a mass…

Stud News: An award for Snelsmore Sundance

Sundance gains an award, and a moment of madness pays off!!! We brought Snelsmore Sundance’s dam Kirkstall Acacia from Bridge-water Shetland pony sales with a mating with Kington Zazarac in mind. It was a risk, a mare who hadn’t bred for four years and only ever had colts “what were we thinking of”!!  But a…

Happy Christmas: Eat, Drink and be Merry

Christmas is like any normal day here at Snelsmore. Unfortunately this year we are all struggling with a bad cold, so after caring for our animals I think we will sit down to a good meal, drink chilled champagne, and have a quite day in front of a roaring log fire and if Gemma gets…

It’s A Topsy Turvy Life.

Nutmegs Story. Nutmeg is a very special pony to us at Snelsmore. Nutmeg’s dam was Winchcombe Blueberry, affectionately known to us all as Topsy. Topsy was kind and gentle, a great character but not a show pony – she shone outside of the ring for us. Sadly, she always struggled with sore feet so spent most…
