The National Performance Show: Sebastian gets his first taste of the limelight

Time seems to have flown by. It’s the 11th of July and we’re off to the Three Counties Show Ground again, this time for the National Performance Show. I Couldn’t help remembering the last time we made this same journey we had our little wrens chicks aboard.  The little stowaway chicks have now safety flown […]

Royal Three Counties Show: A bouncing foal, runaway chicks and a double clear

Unfortunately we missed the South of England show waiting for Snelsmore Illianna to foal. Typically she hung on to the early hours of this morning to give birth to a little filly. Never mind it all went well and we definitely made the right decision in staying at home. Fours hours later, with her foal happily drinking […]

Royal Bath and West show: A good day thanks to the help of our friends.

Luckily as we’ve been having a busy time on the farm recently it wasn’t such a early start for the Royal Bath & West show. It was much better weather this year but as usual for this show we had some strong opposition. It was such a thrill when Snelsmore Nevada was chosen by our […]

Foal Update: Better luck for Libby

It only seems like yesterday, but it was two years ago that Snelsmore Libby aborted her first foal. Libby had waxed up and things seemed to be normal, it was soon very obvious she had a problem and her filly foal was far to young to survive the birth, so we gave her a year […]

Heathfield Agricultural show: A long day.

It was really early 4.00 o’clock start on the 24th of May for the long journey to Heathfield Agricultural show, East Sussex. The weather was not great but the day turn out well. Our judge Mrs M Sargeant picked Snelsmore Ruby Tuesday to win the Yearling class followed by Snelsmore Pavarotti winning the 2 & 3 […]

Foal update: Sundance and Sienna

Kirstall Acacia is very much a loner in the herd, so I wasn’t surprised when she decided to give birth quietly in the field one evening when nobody was around to watch apart her best friend Luna. As usual early in the morning sleepy eyed, I glanced across at the foaling camera by my bed […]

April: Foaling at the stud

Foaling started here at Snelsmore rather unexpectedly on the 7th of April. It was a sunny morning and luckily I noticed Snelsmore Nymph, a maiden mare, giving birth in the field with her friends. Once her little piebald daughter, Scarlet, was strong enough we moved them to a more suitable field where Nymph could quietly settle […]

Snelsmore Juniper has been placed show ring as a youngster but in more recent years she has been at stud. Juniper has already bred three foals and has been running with Merrylees Satchmo this summer, believed in foal for 2016. As well as a super mum, Juniper has the right temperament to make an excellent […]
